Why...

do I always get an urge to knit when I have no yarn and definitely should not buy more?  I have projects in my head and people that I want to do them for... and all of the yarn, needles and patterns are in NY!!  Grr...

Oh well....  just a few more days.  The Boy is crying.  Gotta go!

I am knitting, I promise!

Computer time at Dad's house is kind of a luxury... sorry!  I have finished the scarf and made Kira's Gigantor-hat.  I will weave in the ends of Sophia's baby blanket and then I have no more knitting projects until I get back to NY.  I only brought so much yarn.  Maybe I'll go buy a skein or 2 and make Mom a hat.  She seemed to like Kira's and wanted one.  We'll see.

** She doesn't want a hat.  She just told me.  Plus, I'd have to go buy new yarn thus defeating the purpose of this blog.  Although, its not actually 2010 yet.  This year of using the yarn starts Jan.1... or Jan.3rd.  I am out of yarn and will not be back to NY until the 3rd.  So that is that, I guess.  :)

Everyone have a Happy New Year!  I'll post pictures of everything when I get home.  I did take some, I swear!  :)

No knitting, just packing...

I haven't had time to knit for a day or so.  Maybe today.  The laundry is almost done, Jerry is home today (maybe?  Everyone cross your fingers that Sgt. K doesn't call him back in.) and the packing should be done soon.  Then we're all heading to bed WAY early.  We're going to try to leave at like 4 a.m. so that Gabrel will sleep for most of the beginning.  At least, that's the plan.  We'll see what actually happens.  :)

Update...

The scarf is now over 30 inches long... and I have about a week and a half left before I see the owner.  I think I might even get the hat made before I see her!  Yay!  I knit too tight and it curls, though.  Not sure how to solve this problem.  Oh, well... maybe it will relax after a while.

Knitting and Movie Watching...

is not such a good idea for me.  Seriously.  I worked on the scarf while I watched the new G.I. Joe movie and ended up frogging more than I knitted.  Lesson learned... if I'm going to watch a movie like that, then I need to just be doing garter stitch.  Because if I have to think or pay attention I'm either going to miss the movie or frog a LOT!

BTW, the movie was good.  My husband pointed out a few things that were "off" from the original cartoon, but hey... I don't remember.  That was my brother's favorite show!  LOL

Update to "The Plan"

[insert ominous music here]

I just watched Knitting Daily on PBS and realized... I know NOTHING about knitting.  A few baby blankets and scarves does not make you a real knitter.  I can't assemble things.  I can only knit things if they are knit in 1 piece!  Sure, I can do just about any stitch combination, but dude.. there is a whole lot that I don't know.

So as our first revision to "The Plan" [ominous music again, please], I will learn a new technique.  I am just forcing myself to learn 1 this year.  First, let's use all of that yarn.  Shall we?

Snow day...

We're supposed to get 30 inches of snow by Saturday! Wow! Today would be a perfect day for knitting, right? However, I still have that 2.5 foot tall Master of Disaster running around. I could just see him grabbing my needles and stabbing himself in the eye with them. That would be bad and go against my ultimate goal as a Mother... don't end up on the 6 o'clock news.

So, today, when the boy goes down for a nap... there will be knitting and watching the G.I. Joe movie. Because Netflix loves me! Yes, yes... they do.

Pictures of the yarn...

O.k.... as promised... the yarn stash...

This is the bottom of closet No. 1. It, obviously, is full. There are actually 2 medium size rubbermaid containers under the 2 small containers. All have yarn in them.

Some of the yarn I've started knitting with and either set things aside or messed it up... or whatever...

Anywho... that's closet No. 1, the coat closet in the front hall. I keep current projects in here so that I can hide them from little fingers quickly.

This is the top of Closet No. 2. Alot of this yarn is left over or is in pieces. Pieces meaning I started something *cough... my Mom's sweater... cough* and didn't finish it. :( Hopefully, I'll get these things either finished or re-purposed. He, he!

Also in Closet No. 2... The blue yarn in bags is for Owen Knight's blanket! Yay! :) He is suppposed to arrive at the beginning of March. So should get going on this one.

Somewhere there is green yarn that I am supposed to make my own blanket out of. Hopefully, that happens this year. My Grandma gave me money for the yarn last year for Christmas. Ya.... I still haven't made that blanket. I'd like to show her that blanket someday, and she's not doing so hot health-wise. So that is after Owen's blanket.

This is the current project. It is a scarf that I promised my best friend 2 years ago? Three? Let's just say its overdue and not assign a specific number to that, shall we?

And that is the sad state of things in my closets. Maybe for 2011, it will be scrapbooking 365... b/c there was a lot of that stuff that I could have taken pictures of too. Ha!

Preview of Next Year

O.k. so in the Family Blog, I said that I was going to do this over there, but I think that it needs its own blog. I mean, I need one for the fam, too, right?

The reason, I feel like being a Mommy and wife and PWOC Board Member are taking over my life. Not that I don't love those 3 things... but I still need to be me. And me knits. So for the next year, I am making a commitment to knit every day... and use all that yarn in the closets!

So 30 minutes of knitting every day. And all of the yarn in the closets gets used by December 31, 2010.

We shall see. I'll post pictures of the closets and my 1 active project later.
